Ahlstrom announces price increases on nonwovens food packaging products

Press release Sep 10, 2008, 09:40

Ahlstrom, a leader in high performance fiber-based materials, today announced price increases on its nonwoven food packaging products. The increases, which shall be on average 10%, will affect products for all end uses, including infusion materials, such as tea bag materials and coffee pod filter papers, as well as reinforcements used in fibrous meat casings.

These increases will be effective as of October 1st 2008 and are the result of the recent raw material shortages, the corresponding escalation of their costs and unprecedented increases in energy costs, many of which have reached record levels.

Current in-house orders as well as contractual supply agreements worldwide will be affected. The detailed actions will be discussed with customers through the appropriate business teams.
