Um dos grandes desafios da nossa sociedade atualmente é transformar nossa Economia Linear cada vez mais em uma Economia Circular, com a conscientização de que o modelo de “extrair-transformar-descartar” precisa ser superado de forma a reduzir e/ou recuperar os resíduos garantindo a eles uma nova transformação. Pensando nisso, a Ahlstrom-Munksjö está engajada em fazer parte ativamente dessa mudança, redefinindo sua própria estratégia de inovação.

Até hoje, todos os nossos Papéis Especiais foram produzidos utilizando exclusivamente matérias primas virgens, tanto fibras como químicos. Introduzir material reciclado nas composições desses produtos é um desafio que nosso time de P&D abraçou, quebrando paradigmas antigos e consolidados no mercado para as aplicações de seus produtos. Desse desejo de fazer parte de um ciclo virtuoso, da colaboração entre elos da cadeia e do trabalho de Pesquisa & Desenvolvimento está nascendo a linha LUMIMAX PCR, que carrega no nome este propósito A-M de sustentabilidade.

O acrônimo PCR vem do termo “Post-Consumer Recycled” e é utilizado para classificar material reciclado proveniente do pós-consumo, ou seja, um produto que já cumpriu o seu ciclo de vida. Desta forma contribuímos ainda mais com os altíssimos índices de reciclagem de aparas de papel no Brasil e no mundo criando um caminho adicional de reciclagem para papéis utilizados em embalagens e outras aplicações gráficas, evitando que o caminho destas fibras seja a incineração ou o aterro.

Assim, a linha LUMIMAX PCR foi concebida na nossa Unidade de Jacareí:

• Família de Papéis Couchê L1 para diversas aplicações de rótulos à embalagens flexíveis;
• Papel base com pelo menos 50% de fibra reciclada, sendo pelo menos 25% de fibra reciclada PCR;
• Possui a certificação de Papel Reciclado segundo a norma ABTN NBR 15755:2009.
• Revestimento com a tecnologia LUMIMAX, que manterão todas as características de impressão, laminação e rotulagem, além de características específicas como a dobra sem cracking, entre outras;
• Esses papeis não deixam de ser, por sua vez, recicláveis, biodegradáveis e compostáveis.

Introducing Lumimax PCR: the new paper solution with recycled fibers

One of the great challenges of our society today is to transform our Linear Economy increasingly into a Circular Economy, with the awareness that the “extract-transform-dispose” model needs to be overcome in order to reduce and/or recover waste, guaranteeing to them a new transformation. With that in mind, Ahlstrom-Munksjö is committed to being an active part of this change, redefining its own innovation strategy.

To date, all of our Special Papers have been produced using exclusively virgin raw materials, both fibers and chemicals. Introducing recycled material in the compositions of these products is a challenge that our R&D team embraced, breaking old and consolidated paradigms in the market for the applications of its products. From this desire to be part of a virtuous cycle, from the collaboration between links in the chain and from the Research & Development work, the LUMIMAX PCR line was born, which carries in its name the A-M’s purpose of sustainability.

The acronym PCR comes from the term “Post-Consumer Recycled” and is used to classify recycled material from post-consumer use, that is, a product that has already completed its life cycle. In this way, we contribute even more to the very high recycling rates of paper scraps in Brazil and in the world, creating an additional recycling path for papers used in packaging and other graphic applications, preventing the path of these fibers from being incinerated or landfilled.

Therefore, the LUMIMAX PCR line was designed in our Jacareí Unit:

• Couchê L1 paper family for various applications from labels to flexible packaging;
• Base paper with at least 50% recycled fiber, at least 25% being PCR recycled fiber;
• It has the Recycled Paper certification according to the ABTN NBR 15755:2009 standard.
• Coating with LUMIMAX technology, which will maintain all the printing, lamination and labeling characteristics, in addition to specific characteristics such as folding without cracking, among others;
• These papers are recyclable, biodegradable and compostable.

We are proud to introduce this new product family, which complements our range of technologies and amplifies sustainable alternatives in our portfolio, confirming once again Ahlstrom-Munksjö's strong commitment to the Circular Economy.
