Pertti Korhonen resigns as Chairman of the Board of Ahlstrom
The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ahlstrom Corporation, Pertti Korhonen, has on October 1, 2014 announced his resignation from the position of Chairman of the Board.
Ahlstrom has gone through a major change and sharpened its business portfolio to become a global manufacturer of high performance fiber-based materials. According to Pertti Korhonen's insight, now is the best time to change the Chairman of the Board in order to serve the best interests of Ahlstrom and its shareholders. Ahlstrom is advancing the implementation of its strategy to the next stage, a part of which was the appointment of a new CEO who started in June 2014.
"We would like to thank Pertti Korhonen for his outstanding contribution to Ahlstrom. Korhonen has served as Chairman of the Board of Ahlstrom since 2013, as Vice Chairman from 2011 to 2013 and as a Board member from 2011. During his time on the Board, Ahlstrom has gone through a considerable transformation. The most important milestones in the implementation of the strategy have been the divestment of the Home and Personal wipes business and the demerger of specialty papers, the Label and Processing business. Korhonen has also led the process of selecting the new company management that will now concentrate on Ahlstrom's next development phases. We will continue the implementation of the long-term strategy and focus on the objectives set for the company", says Robin Ahlström, Vice Chairman of the Board of Ahlstrom.
The Board of Directors of Ahlstrom will today convene to elect a new Chairman of the Board.
